Katy Perry wowed at King Charles III’s coronation concert on May 7 – and not just with her powerhouse vocals. The singer took the stage at Windsor Castle wearing a showstopping dress made of gold leatherette material that dazzled as she performed hits like “Roar” and “Firework.” The bespoke Vivienne Westwood ball gown featured a corseted bodice, a plunging neckline, a voluminous floor-sweeping skirt, and detached sleeves that resembled extra-long opera gloves. Fans shared various comparisons to the metallic dress on social media, likening it to everything from aluminum foil to gold-wrapped candies like Ferrero Rocher chocolate and Quality Street toffee.

The design was inspired by a bridal look from the British fashion designer’s spring 2006 Gold Label collection, according to Perry’s longtime stylist Tatiana Waterford. As Perry showed fans on Instagram, the dress was subtly personalized to commemorate the special occasion. Both Perry and the newly crowned king‘s names were stitched inside the bodice with purple thread, along with a crown symbol, the year, and the initials VW as a nod to the late designer.

The prior day, Perry repped Westwood at Charles’s coronation service at Westminster Abbey. The mother of one wore a custom lavender skirt suit, opera gloves, and a matching fascinator with white heels and a pearl choker necklace adorned with a diamond Sovereign’s Orb, which is a symbol of the coronation. Before the ceremony began, she was spotted looking for her seat from beneath her sheer hat – a moment that quickly became a meme. Perry took the mix-up in stride, jokingly assuring fans on Twitter, “Don’t worry guys i found my seat.”
