Confirmed: Kim Kardashian Wears That Famous Marilyn Monroe Dress to the 2022 Met Gala

A birdie told us that there are some theories that might lead to Kim Kardashian — one of the most notable attendees attending this year’s Met Gala — wearing one of Marilyn Monroe’s most famous dresses. And now we can confirm that those theories are true.
If you’re not up to date with the current Met Gala arrivals, I can see your mind racing. Is it the white dress she wore in the 1955 film The Seven Year Itch, that famously blew up around her face when she stood over a vent? An unforgettable moment in film. Or maybe it’s that luxurious orange bedazzled number she wears in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes? That scene where she and Jane Russell parade through the ballroom of hungry men.
Well, no. Good guesses, but no. The dress in question is none other than the one Monroe wore to sing “Happy Birthday, Mr. President” to John F. Kennedy for his 45th birthday at Madison Square Garden in 1962.
The dress itself is a custom-made Jean Louise dress, covered in crystals and allegedly worth around US $5 million. It’s currently living on display at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum, in Orlando Florida, which is where Kim and her boyfriend Pete Davidson, were photographed earlier this week.
But wait! There’s more.
Earlier this month, Kim told Access Hollywood that her attendance at the 2022 Met Gala depends on whether or not she can fit into her look. “It really depends if I fit into my dress, so I hope I’m going,” she said. “I think it will be up to the last minute because it can’t be tailored, so I have to fit into it like, exactly,” she added.
While that could literally mean anything, it would definitely make sense of a dress custom-made for Marilyn Monroe, who famously sported a small waist and curvy hips.
Not to mention that this year’s Met Gala theme is “In America: An Anthology of Fashion”, which breaks down to a dress code of “gilded glamour, white tie”… so an iconic Marilyn Monroe look would actually make heaps of sense, right? We’ll be so excited if it’s true.
By now we know that Kim Kardashian doesn’t wear anything without a whole lot of foreshadowing, so could the dress that she wore the other night, while out for dinner with Davidson, be a sign?
It sure resembles this iconic dress of Monroe’s. Just saying.
While interviewing Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker on the Met Gala 2022 red carpet, Lala Anthony — one of Kim Kardashian’s best friends — just said “something’s ’bout to happen”, in reference to Kim’s look.
The entire Kardashian clan, Kourtney, Khloe, Kendall, Kylie and Kris arrived on the red carpet before Kim, however, according to Kourtney, Kim was getting ready in “a secret changing room”.
You could hear the crowd of onlookers erupt as Kim arrived, indeed wearing Marilyn Monroe’s dress, that is 60 years old and she “had to lose 16 pounds to fit into”. We’re not sure going without carbs is ever worth it, but she did look incredible.
