Pantone Revealed the Colour of 2022, Taking Note From Celebrities, Designers, and Street Style Stars

From vivid shades of green to fiery pops of red, this year’s fashion has been dominated by a rainbow of bright colours that capture our anxious longing for a more optimistic future. So perhaps to no surprise, Pantone announced a bold purple as the colour of 2022. Very Peri, described as a “dynamic periwinkle blue hue with a vivifying violet red undertone,” blends “the faithfulness and constancy of blue with the energy and excitement of red,” according to the company.

“Very Peri is a symbol of the global zeitgeist of the moment and the transition we are going through.”

“We are living in transformative times,” a statement shared on Pantone’s website continued. “Very Peri is a symbol of the global zeitgeist of the moment and the transition we are going through. Very Peri helps us to embrace this altered landscape of possibilities, opening us up to a new vision as we rewrite our lives.”

Turns out, celebrities, street style stars, and other influential figures have leaned into the colour for red carpet appearances and in-person events all year. On the runway, Chanel’s Metiers D’art and Lanvin’s spring/summer 2022 Show, among others, also gave us plenty of deep purple envy. Ahead, see how people have owned the colour, and get inspiration for incorporating Very Peri into your looks.
