Rihanna Wears Cupcake-Like Gown and Sunnies With Falsies to the 2023 Met Gala

Rihanna and her kilt-wearing boo A$AP Rocky are finally at the 2023 Met Gala, some of the last to arrive.

For the fashion event, RiRi opted for a cupcake-like white gown with a floral top piece that fitted over her head and went down to her waist. She finished the ensemble off with a pair of white sunnies with fake lashes and a bold red lip. The top half of the gown was later revealed to double as a coat, as she took it off and wore it at her elbows.

Meanwhile, her rapper partner wore a red kilt over jeans and a black blazer and tie.

Before the event, the couple were snapped by photographers leaving The Carlyle Hotel in New York City where they’re staying with their 11-month-old son.

This year’s Met Gala theme is “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty”, honouring the late creative director of Chanel. RiRi had worked with Lagerfield on several occasions.

Back in 2015, she was announced as the face of Chanel’s “Secret Garden IV” campaign, which was shot by fashion photographer Steven Klein in the Palace of Versailles.

The campaign featured Rihanna donned in Chanel designs, including a long black dress, a white sequinned jumpsuit, and a tweed coat. The images showed her posing in the palace’s gardens, staircases, and hallways, exuding a sense of sophistication and glamour. Rihanna’s campaign for Chanel was a significant milestone in her career, as she became one of the few Black women to be the face of the brand.

The singer also worked with Lagerfeld on a feature in the French fashion magazine, “Lui”, in 2013, photographed by Lagerfeld.
