Rihanna's Savage x Fenty Volume 2 Is Even Sexier and Fiercer Than the First One

Leave it to Rihanna to stage a fashion show that feels bigger than the Oscars and Met Gala combined. I got an early look at her second show for Savage x Fenty that’s taking place as an Amazon Prime experience on Friday, and it was everything I needed and more. I was lucky enough to attend the show IRL last year, and I can’t express what a whirlwind it was to see Rihanna up on stage alongside Migos, Big Sean, and Halsey, just to name a few. This time around, the lineup is just as strong with performances by Travis Scott, Rosalia, Bad Bunny, Ella Mai, Miguel, Mustard, and Roddy Ricch. As for who walked, there were some familiar faces from last time like Bella Hadid and Cara Delevingne. There were also a ton of new faces like Lizzo, Laura Harrier, and Normani. Talk about a star-studded show.

Rather than watching a bunch of skinny, predominantly white models walking the runway and blowing kisses, Rihanna continues to break boundaries by including models of different sizes and ethnicities.

Rihanna opened the show, strutting through a color-changing hallway wearing a black bra, thong, fishnet stockings, and a chain-link belt around her waist. The camera then cut to a row of models all clad in black lace lingerie that had a punk-rock feel them. They all had blunt bangs and almost a mullet hairstyle that just added to the show.

As expected, Rihanna cast a diverse lineup, including plenty of curve and LGBTQ+ models. Cara Delevingne was the first celeb appearance, stepping out wearing a similar rock-and-roll lingerie set as Rihanna’s with her hair styled in a mullet. Rosalía then performed wearing a black lace bra and thong set with sheer biker shorts.

Rather than watching a bunch of skinny, predominantly white models walking the runway and blowing kisses, Rihanna continues to break boundaries by including models of different sizes and ethnicities. They’re not only strutting, but they’re dancing in sync to badass songs. (Think of synchronized swimmers, except in lingerie dancing to songs that are way cooler.)

As you’d expect, the dance moves were on another level, and I found myself wanting to dance around in my seat while watching the show. This was especially true when Bella Hadid came out during the N.E.R.D song “She Wants to Move” wearing a black bra and thong set with latex gloves.

Throughout the show, Rihanna and her fellow collaborators talked about her vision for the brand, what goes into designing the collection, and how she wanted Savage x Fenty to be something more. Rihanna’s take on sexuality is something that’s stayed with me after watching: “Displaying sexuality has become something that’s way deeper than the surface for me. It’s that empowerment in wearing whatever the hell I want, however the hell I want to wear it for myself, not even for anybody else.” The show – the outfits, the dance performances, and the many bodies represented – brought this sentiment to life.

Later, Lizzo turned up the heat wearing an electric blue lingerie set with fishnet stockings and Nike sneakers. Let me just say, the girl can move. The coolest backdrop had to be the fairyland Rihanna created with models wearing shades of lavender dancing around in what looked like a sea of flowers. Then, Queen Rih herself came out from one of the flowers. She wore a purple lace bodysuit with thigh-high boots and a matching floral boa. She even had flowers on her eyelashes, making her look like a Savage x Fenty Tinkerbell.

The most unexpected celeb appearance had to be Paris Hilton who wore a Barbie pink bodysuit with Amina Muaddi heels. At the end of the show, Rihanna stood among the dancers and models wearing a sheer polka-dot blouse paired with leather booty shorts by Alexandre Vauthier. Just when you think the show is over, Travis Scott shows up to perform before the event truly ends.
