Sydney Sweeney Wears Her Dress Backward to Reveal 3 Striking Cutouts

Sydney Sweeney celebrated her two Emmy nominations for “The White Lotus” and “Euphoria” in LA on Monday, Sept. 12. After walking the red carpet ahead of the ceremony in a custom Oscar de la Renta design covered in shimmering floral appliqué, the 25-year-old actor swapped her look for a vintage Versace dress in a beautiful jade tone to attend HBO’s nominee reception at San Vicente Bungalows.

Sweeney’s stylist, Molly Dickson, revealed that the star’s gown was intentionally worn backward in an effort to display the three striking cutouts across the chest, bust, and torso. While the floor-sweeping skirt was made from gathered satin, contrasting leather sleeves and thick patent strips sewn across the bodice provided an edgy update. The look was finished with elegant teardrop diamond earrings and Giuseppe Zanotti Bebe platforms.

Sweeney underwent a full glam makeover for the transition, with hairstylist Glen Coco straightening her waves into a sleek lob with a flip at the end; makeup artist Melissa Hernandez lining her eyes in a smouldering, evening-appropriate cat eye; and manicurist Zola Ganzorigt painting her nails the exact right shade of green.

Sweeney posed with “Euphoria” costars Zendaya (who also changed into a sultrier Valentino silhouette) and Maude Apatow at the event, all before making her way to New York Fashion Week, where she sat front row at the Tory Burch runway show on Sept. 13 to fulfil her role as brand ambassador.

Ahead, see all angles of Sweeney’s meticulously styled afterparty outfit, which she posted on Instagram alongside the caption “ecasrev,” to further drive home the point that she did, indeed, put her own literal “twist” on this fashion moment from the archives.
