Taylor Swift’s Statement “Midnights” Grammy Earrings Are Up For Auction
Taylor Swift showed up to the 2023 Grammys on February 6 in a Midnight-blue Roberto Cavalli ensemble, which represented her latest album “Midnights”. Swift finished the look off with some seriously incredible statement earrings, by Lorraine Schwartz.
Fit for a queen, the pair of kite-shaped baubles were made up of four diamond-encrusted squares, each with a midnight sapphire in the centre, and another sapphire in the centre, holding them all together.
They dangled, they glistened, they twinkled like midnight stars — as Swift sauntered down the red carpet looking like fashion’s version of a Van Gogh sky.
And now, they could be yours. If you’re mega rich and into insanely exxy jewels. The Lorraine Schwartz-crafted and Taylor Swift-worn earrings are set to be included in an upcoming auction from Joopiter, the digital-first auction house founded last year by Pharrell Williams.
The four-panel earrings are made up of more than 136 carats of natural purple sapphires, set in 18-karat white gold and are said to be valued at close to $3 million. *Gulp*.
“I was lucky enough to meet Pharrell over 20 years ago, and we’ve built an incredible friendship through a mutual appreciation for the most exquisite and unique gems in the world,” Schwartz said in a statement.
“To me, ‘A Journey Through Gems’ is not only a curation of the finest bespoke high jewellery available now, but also the story of our journey and relationship as told through gems. I am excited to partner with Joopiter for this once-in-a-lifetime sale, bringing access to these gems and their provenance to a global audience.”
Being a third-generation diamond dealer, we guess she knows what she’s talking about. Oh, to be rich and famous.
A Journey Through Gems is Joopiter’s second auction. Its first, called Son of a Pharaoh, included pieces from Williams’ personal collection of jewellery and clothes, which sold around $5.25 million in sales. A portion of the proceeds when to Williams’ Black Ambition initiative, supporting Black and brown entrepreneurs.
This upcoming auction is also set to include an 18-karat white gold diamond and Colombian emerald bib necklace with matching earrings, worn by Beyoncé, and a 50-carat D Flawless, Type IIa heart-shaped loose diamond.
The theme, A Journey Through Gems, centres around high jewellery, and is “a selection of the world’s rarest stones and iconic, one-of-a-kind creations commissioned throughout Schwartz’s legendary career,” according to a statement from the auction house.
Williams is a busy man RN. As well as overseeing this latest Joopiter auction, he is currently preparing his first collection at Louis Vuitton, where he was recently named creative director for menswear, replacing the late Virgil Abloh.
Safe to say, he has his fingers in many a powerful pie.
While detailed information on everything included in the sale hasn’t been released yet, we do know that they plan to show the collection in a private showcase during Art Basel Hong Kong at the end of March.
