"I Just Wasn't Across How Widespread This Disease Is" — Megan Gale
Ovarian cancer kills one Australian woman every 10 hours. This is the devastating statistic that's behind the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation and L'Oréal Paris' latest campaign. The hashtag they are encouraging everyone to get behind this July and August: #10Hours. Ovarian cancer affects women of all ages and is a reality that many Australian women are facing. This insidious disease often strikes without warning, and unlike other cancers there is currently no early-detection test for ovarian cancer. There is no cure.
The campaign will be supported on social media by a number of celebrities who will share Instagram pictures of themselves wearing a #10hours t-shirt. We caught up with L'Oréal Paris ambassador Megan Gale, the first face to share her picture and help spread awareness of this terrible disease. She's been involved with the OCRF since 2011 and is incredibly passionate about this cause. Read on to see what the model, actress and mother of 1-year-old River had to say about ovarian cancer, the power of celebrity and the one thing we all need in our lives.
