If you're after a quick but effective workout, look no further than Fitness expert and Nike Trainer, Stef Turners' HIIT Pilates full body burn. This workout combines your favourite elements of tradition mat Pilates and adds in the heart pumping benefits of HIIT training.
A few tips from Stef before you start:
- Alignment is key when targeting specific muscle groups in Pilates exercises, so be sure to move in a controlled and placed manner.
- Breathing is an important element in Pilates. As a general rule, inhale through your nose and exhale through pursed lips as if you are breathing through a straw. This should help you engage your pelvic floor.
- When doing Pilates you may like to exhale as you flex your abdominals, for example as you lift your head and shoulders in a crunch exercise, and then inhale as you extend your abdominals, for example when you lay down after the upward motion of a crunch. Otherwise in this lesson simply breath freely and at times that work for you.
