Finding the time to rest and rejuvenate these days is, let's face it, tough. Work and social commitments keep us preoccupied throughout the week, and weekends are saved for more social outings, or spent playing catch up with the week that was.
When we do find the time to travel, our itineraries are often filled with new places to see, thrills to experience and foods to eat. While these are for good reason, we come home and often can't shake the feeling of needing a holiday from our holiday.
Enter: a wellcation — getaways focused on promoting and nurturing health and wellbeing. Or in other words, the answer to hitting that sweet spot between travelling and truly unplugging. Now, being a city girl through and through, my idea of getaways are well, to other big cities. But recently, I took a long weekend and escaped to Noosa, Queensland, and turns out, being away from the hustle and bustle was something I never knew I needed.
As a teaser, I spent one night at the Brisbane Riverview Hotel, a boutique, art-deco hotel just out of Brisbane. Each room even came with a decadent pillow menu, which was the perfect way to get in the wellcation mood. After that, it was off and away to Noosa — Australia's health and wellness mecca.
