Try the Health Trend: Detox Water
If you, like us, follow an unhealthy amount of inspirational people who glow with wellbeing, chances are you know what detox water is. If you don't, welcome to the health and fitness trend of 2014.
Detox water is everywhere, and we're going to call it and say it's the easiest possible health trend to jump onto. Take the words literally and you have it: it's water that detoxes your system with the help of key additives. It started a couple years back when it became common to drink warm water with lemon of a morning; now it's turned into a whole new game of who-can-make-theirs-the-prettiest. But the great thing is, while a lot of it is to do with how beautiful it looks on Instagram, it's actually an excellent way to encourage yourself to drink more water if you struggle with the lack of taste.
The question is, does detox water actually detox your system? We know that lemon, mint, cucumber and ginger offer great health benefits, but berries and other fruits will also give your water an added boost of nutrients. Berries are jam-packed with antioxidants, fibre and inflammation-fighting properties, rockmelon has an endless supply of bonuses and herbs and spices offer all the taste you're looking for, with zero calories. Short answer: it's more about getting a nutrient boost, which you're guaranteed to do if you choose what you put in wisely.
