Despite more body- and age-positive strides being made in society, there's no denying the existence of a double standard that says men become more seasoned as their age matures while women experience the opposite. One woman who's defying the notion that looking and feeling your best is reserved for your youth is Davina Mccall.
When the TV presenter posted a holiday snap featuring her in a red thong bikini, she garnered over 60,000 "likes" and an avalanche of comments from women praising how encouraging her display of self-acceptance and unabashed self-love is, with one from a @lesley.mackay reading, "You've worked damn hard to own that thing. At 47 I think I may have left it a little late to get into a thong again but never say never."
With a caption that read "this might look like I'm showing off.... I am. I'm pretty chuffed, having thought I would be in one pieces after 40," it's easy to see why so many people were inspired by the 49-year-old's encouraging message, reminding all women that they can be their healthiest, fittest, and most self-accepting no matter what age they are.
