Your Workout Regime Will Have More Variety
It's been almost a year to the day since I joined F45. I'm sure you know all about the phenomenon by now — it's the workout of choice for celebs like Stephanie Smith and Carissa Walford — but in case you don't, the concept is simple. Launched in 2012, Functional 45 is a studio-based, 45-minute, high-intensity, circuit-training workout class. The sessions are crafted from over 3,000 different movements, and no two workouts are the same. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays are cardio focused, while Tuesdays and Thursdays are resistance workouts. Easy.
Prior to jumping on the F45 train (I'll refrain from using the word "cult") I was a very different exerciser. For most of my adult life, I maintained a cardio-only workout routine, which saw me running or doing self-designed circuits four-to-five times a week. Admittedly, I had some warped ideas of what would and wouldn't harvest results — weights being a major bone of contention. You see, a year ago, I honestly thought that if I so much as looked at a set of weights I would immediately become the Hulk. That hang-up alone meant that my workout regime was lacking the diversity needed to maximise enjoyment and see change.
Then, after years of enjoying my steady routine it all came unstuck, and into a lazy slump I fell. But with Winter on the way I was determined to turn things around ASAP and thus signed up to F45 with my boyfriend. And I'm so glad I did.
Below are five reasons why F45 is worth it.
