How do you like your salad? We bet you've never said, "As a cake!" Well guess what: salad cakes are the latest healthy food trend to come out of Japan — yes, leave it to the Japanese to think of something like this! — and the innovative dishes were designed to make vegetables and salad more delicious and appealing. They look like standard (though elaborately-decorated) cakes on the outside, but cut a slice and you'll find layers of vegetables between "sponge cakes" made from natural ingredients like soy bean flour, or rice. As for the icing? It contains either tofu or cream cheese mixed with vegetables.

To get your hands on one of these cakes, you'll need to travel to Japan, specifically to a café called Vegedeco in Nagoya. For now, scroll through for pics of this mind-boggling food creation.
