We Meditated For the Very First Time and the Results Were Surprising
Having never meditated properly before (apparently 20-minute naps don't count), the idea of going to a private meditation session seemed like a good opportunity to learn how. So off we went to Centred Meditation to meet with the pros Kevin and Nikki for 30-minutes of guided meditation. The outcome: we learnt a lot. Firstly, it's not about sleeping (who'd have thought?!), and secondly the benefits are almost immediate. Keep reading for our first-time accounts of meditation.

There's No Such Thing as Bad Meditation
"I've read a lot about meditation but it's never been something I've committed to. Sure, it sounds great, but isn't it just sleeping? (Something I'm already really good at) Apparently not. A couple of minutes into the session I was beginning to feel weightless — it wasn't about falling asleep it was about controlling your thoughts and focusing on your body, piece by piece. I found myself even more at ease when Kevin told us there's no such thing as bad meditation, because going in I was concerned I wouldn't be able to enjoy the meditation due to my stress levels.
Leading up to the afternoon session, I'll be honest I wasn't too keen. I had so much to do before the end of the day that stopping to meditate seemed like a waste of time. But once I was in the space any stress I was feeling almost instantly disappeared. Post-session I was ready to go straight home, to the couch to chill out even more. It's definitely something I would try again. Doing it in a group made it feel very special."
