Holy mother of workouts. What. An. Experience. On Saturday 19 March, the POPSUGAR Australia squad joined 2,500 women at Sydney's Darling Island Wharf, at what can only be described as the most epic workout, ever. Led by
NIKE Master Trainers and athletes (including my personal favourite, Kirsty Godso), NTC Tour Sydney pushed us to our limits in the best way possible. Here's what we learned from the day!
It's OK to Be Scared
I was pretty nervous about the opening workout, as it sounded
hard. Kirsty had warned us to expect more than just a warm-up — this was set to be a full body workout with explosive, dynamic moves . . . yep, up there with what scares me most! Despite being fitter than I'd ever been before, I still doubted myself. Sure, I knew I was much better, but would I be good enough to get through this, then last the entire day?

Your Squad Makes All the Difference
Having Carina, Jess and Belle by my side was a great way to stay motivated and energised. We laughed, danced and high-fived our way through — if the moves were too difficult, or we were getting tired, we pushed each other to try a little harder. The day was meant to be challenging, after all!

Fun Can Equal Sore, in a Good Way
I love dancing. So much. This session felt a bit like cheating . . . How could a workout be so much fun?! Stef De Castro's high-energy cardio routines are probably the reason my arms hurt so much today, but boy was it a great experience! The lovely Anna Heinrich was front and centre in this session, so we made sure we shimmied our way next to her. Booty shaking, with Anna, to Justin Bieber? A recipe for success!

Braids Are Best
Kim Kardashian or Lil Wayne, the hairdo of the day was both on-trend and practical. Braids = the only hairstyle that really does keep hair out of your face, true story!

Rest Is Necessary
Darling Island Wharf was converted into a fitness fanatic's dream. Laid out like a music festival, there were multiple stages, food trucks, nail bars, braiding stations, free massages, a merchandise tent and even a Pilates boat! We took full advantage of the space, enjoying manicures, braided hair and a bit of shopping in our downtime.

Music Is Everything
Things that are awesome about boxing, #NTCTourSyd edition: EVERYTHING! Punching out mini-combos while Snoop Dogg's "Drop It Like It's Hot" blasted through the speakers was definitely a key moment for the POPSUGAR Australia squad — I'd be lying if I said we didn't end up in fits of laughter as we counted our arm (dance) moves. In addition to the sweet tunes, the
NIKE trainers' energy was infectious (honestly, someone should bottle it, they'd make a fortune!) — they kept us sweating and smiling through push-ups, sit-ups and a whole lot of skipping.

It Feels Good to Be Strong
I've waxed lyrical about my
newfound love for Pilates (shout out to KG for convincing me to try!), so I was most excited for this session at NTC Tour Sydney. My excitement doubled when I learned this was taking place on a boat! The best part? The results of my Pilates work shone through in every session. Not only could I feel my little abs trying their hardest to keep my core stable throughout each workout, I was much better at everything overall. Win!

You'll Want to Do More
The only problem with #NTCTourSyd is that there are too many sessions to do them all. If we had any energy left, we would have loved to take part in the spin and circuit sessions, or maybe even the run!

By the end of the day, exhausted was an understatement. Despite how hard we'd pushed and how tired our bodies felt, the air felt electric. Women of all fitness levels gathered for one last hit of endorphins — the sea of wearied but happy faces sharing a sense of achievement for making it through the day. The girls and I mustered every last bit of energy for the closing workout — this was not a cool down! Proving that women are indeed strong alone, but better together, we buddied up for high knees and core exercises for one last workout with Kirsty.

Energy Is Motivating
In true NIKE style, the day wasn't over yet! DJ duo Dem Foxes pumped tunes through the arena, as a dance crew jumped on stage for an epic dance off. Seeing their energy was exactly what we needed to push us through to the very end!

We're Just Getting Started
The event itself exceeded my expectations beyond what I could ever imagine — and after attending a few of NIKE's events in the lead up to the big day, my expectations were pretty high! From the supportive group of women in attendance, to the overall vibe of the day, NTC Tour Sydney was epic.
The journey here has been awesome, challenging, enlightening and surprising — I can honestly say I have a newfound appreciation and motivation for training. My body and attitude have changed — there's no way I'd be this strong if I wasn't working towards tour day! I'm not going to lie, having a little extra muscle tone and definition feels pretty good too . . . There is no way I'm giving up now. The fact I was able to go from zero to a hundred in a short space of time (granted, I had
a little help along the way!) has proved that I am capable of much more than I ever expected. The next challenge on the NIKE Women Victory Tour calendar? A NIKE+ Run Club Women's Half Marathon. Show the world your wings and register here!
