Another day, another hit Instagram food trend. But this time, there's no need to feel guilty about indulging in it — this one's actually good for you. Say hello to sushi doughnuts!
Free of any weird-but-wonderful ingredient hybrids à la the cronut, these are simply sushi in the shape of doughnuts. Rice is moulded into the doughnut base, and it's then topped with everything from salmon and sesame seeds, to pickled ginger and avocado. According to the Washington Post, Sam Murphy, a Melbourne-based vegan cookbook author, was the first to experiment with the trend, and it's been steadily gathering steam ever since.
