Why Pilates Reformer Will Change Your Life
I was once the kind of person who would attend a Pilates class at my over-crowded gym and assume I had it mastered. In my mind I was inhaling on the move and rolling my spine vertebrae by vertebrae just like the pros (and waay better than the 50 other people in the class), I was pretty much just as good as the trainer — ha! But in reality, I was doing it wrong . . . almost all of the time. Sure, I was more relaxed (as anyone would be after aimlessly rolling around on a mat for an hour) but I was still doing it very wrong. It wasn't until I signed up to do 10 sessions of Pilates reformer (yep, the one with machines that resemble torture devices — good news, they aren't!) at Fluidform Pilates I realised the error of my ways. And after 10 one-hour sessions, over a three and a half week period, I noticed results. My waist is more defined, which is always a good thing. My inner thighs are looking more toned and I swear my corrected posture has made me centimetres taller (OK, I haven't really grown but I definitely feel I'm walking taller, which counts). It has changed the way I workout. I've since ditched the sweaty, painful bootcamp/cross-fit sessions and I'm all about calmer, stress-free (bye-bye cranky, yelly bootcamp trainers) exercise.
