Looking at history and human physiology it's pretty clear we evolved without eating sugar on the reg. Back in the good ol' caveman days, sugar was consumed in the form of seasonal fruit and honey. "From there it contributes to obesity, abnormal lipid profiles and chronic illnesses such as diabetes," says Nik. "Over time it wears out our insulin stores — it is highly addictive, it damages our arteries and raises cholesterol."
