Zumba is arguably one of the most enjoyable ways to exercise and work up a sweat. The dance cardio workout was created by Colombian dancer and choreographer Alberto “Beto” Pérez in 2001 and its popularity has been constant since its inception.

While there are a plethora of Zumba or dance cardio classes offered at gyms and fitness studios, there are also a bunch of pre-recorded videos that you can access via YouTube. This means you can get in on the Zumba fun from the comfort of your own home, which is preferable to in-person classes for many people.

Working out at home means you’re not restricted to class times — you can pop a workout video on whenever it suits you and complete the workout — and it saves you money on class fees, which aren’t accessible for everyone. Workout videos also allow you to take it at your own pace, which is especially great for beginners as they find their flow.

If you’re new to Zumba, you might not be aware of the many health benefits of this form of exercise. Not only does it work the whole body from your shoulders to your feet but it also helps to build endurance, burn fat and improve your cardiovascular fitness and blood pressure.

According to Healthline, another major plus of Zumba classes is that any fitness level can partake in the workout. You can move on your own to the beat and adapt the workout to you, without feeling like you need to be at the same level as those in recorded workouts or in classes.

All of these dance videos are led by POPSUGAR Fitness instructors and can be completed in 30 minutes or less. These exercises will get your blood pumping, sweat flowing and are sure to put a smile on your face as you follow the dance-inspired moves. Here are five of our favourites:
