Ben Payne — Personal Trainer: "Meditation and Magnesium"
"Personally, I now take time to do at least 10 minutes of meditative breathing techniques two to three times a week, more if I can fit it in. This switches me from the 'fight or flight' stressed state of the sympathetic nervous system, into a state of repair, recovery and revitalisation. I always have more energy to work or train after I do this.
"I always start the day with a big glass of water with a green superfood powder mixed in. Super Organic Supplements has a great one called Vitamineral Greens. As well as starting the day with some hydration, it floods the body with loads of beneficial ingredients like different grass and sprout extracts, potent algaes and some unique herbs that nourish the body and improve digestion, detoxification, energy production, blood sugar levels and stress management.
Years ago I switched form a high carb (high sugar) breakfast, to a high protein, high fat one; and not only did it change my body composition (more muscle, less fat), but mentally I am so much more alert in the morning and my focus and drive are through the roof. Go for eggs, smoked salmon, avocado, baby spinach, etc. You will feel fuller longer, more on the ball and generally just unstoppable. Pop into Greenheart Espresso and ask for The PT Space breakfast and you will know what I mean.
Lastly, I always use a good quality magnesium supplement before bed. Magnesium is a natural mineral that plays an important role in hundreds of functions in the body. It is also the mineral of stress management, aids in repair and recovery and will calm the nervous system, setting you up for a deep, restful night sleep. I use Bioceuticals Ultra Muscleze at night orally and I use Magsorb by Super Organic Supplements transdermally (on the skin). This will give you great sleep, so even if you don't get enough you will still have better quality sleep and feel more refreshed the next day." Source: Instagram user benpayne54
