Steph Claire Smith’s Tips to Back Yourself
Lean Into Your Strengths
Growing up, especially at highschool, I felt like my creative skills were undervalued. I’m not traditionally academic and I think we are all so affected by what was said and done in our teen and even younger years – more than we know! We hang onto those comments or events that happened and create our own ceiling in life because of them. For me, the school system in of itself made me feel ‘less than’ for being a creative instead of an academic. It’s taken me a while but I’m finally at a point where I’ve accepted the fact that I can’t be good at everything, and far out, it feels incredibly freeing. Without that pressure, from myself or anyone else, I’m able to really focus on my strengths and master those instead. Like my passion for creativity, content and connection with our Kic community, because I know that’s what I am bloody good at!
So, determine your strengths, and lean into them. It’s important to continue to learn and evolve, but make sure you’re focusing your energy on what truly makes you tick, not what others think you ‘should’ be doing.
Surround Yourself With People Who Have Your Back
It’s crazy how we can so vividly see the strengths and value in our loved ones, but we often struggle to see it within ourselves. Having people in your corner that truly want the best for you is so important. When self-doubt creeps in, I know the handful of people that I can count on to combat my limiting beliefs.
Affirmations
Our brains are so incredibly powerful, and if we talk to ourselves harshly, with lots of self criticism, it can really impact our confidence and self esteem. Practicing affirmations and mantras that help you speak more kindly to yourself can have a profound effect on your ability to build your confidence. Which is why we’ve incorporated an affirmation with each of our STAX. collections. The ethos of our latest edit has evolved from believing ‘I am enough’, to embracing the affirmation “I can and I will”. It’s a simple but powerful message, to motivate you to back yourself, queen. You’ve got this.
Say ‘Yes’ to things That Scare You
Putting yourself out of your comfort zone is essential to grow both as a person and in confidence. The longer you put something off, the more daunting it becomes. Whether it’s joining a run club, public speaking or attending a networking event solo, take this as your sign to give it a go. Trust me, you’ll be surprised by how capable you are!
The new collection launches at 9am on Friday 13th September on STAX. This collection is set to be another instant sell-out.
