Cyberpunk 2077 received a major patch overnight that pretty much reboots the game. The 1.5 patch contains the next-gen update for PS5 and Xbox Series X and S consoles, meaning those players can finally experience the game the way it was intended. Anyone who owns the PS4 or Xbox One version of the game can now upgrade to the next-gen version for free (as long as you have a next-gen console, of course) although you’ll have to start the update manually on PS5.

The patch included performance improvements like ray tracing, spatial headphone audio, DualSense controller features for PS5 and an overhaul of the gameplay, economy and loot systems. But it also added many features that players have been holding out for since the game launched, like the ability to customise your apartment and new content for Keanu Reeves’ character Johnny Silverhand. You can read the full Cyberpunk 2077 1.5 patch notes here and watch the Twitch stream with the devs but the full list is very long, so we’ve broken down the biggest and most exciting changes here. These updates make Cyberpunk 2077 feel like a new game — if you couldn’t play it at launch or you’ve simply been waiting for the next-gen version, now’s your moment.

Here are the 6 most exciting updates in the Cyberpunk 2077 1.5 patch:

#1 You Can Customise V’s Apartment

Finally! You can now completely redecorate your apartment using the in-game EZEstates website. There are six makeover themes to choose from, including a pink and blue look called Flamingo City and the sleek white Lunar Tranquility. Sadly it’s not a Sims-level makeover — you can’t move individual objects around your apartment or buy new furniture. But the makeover themes automatically add and customise unique pieces of furniture, so it’s a little more than a new paint job.

#2 You Can Change V’s Appearance

At any point in the game, you can now change your hairstyle, makeup and piercings. It’s totally free to change your appearance, and you can do it in front of the mirror in any of your apartments and safehouses. There are also new makeup and hair colour options including eyeliner that looks like it’s straight out of Euphoria and some gorgeous ombre styles that I will be using ASAP.

#3 The Romances Are Steamier

As your relationship with Panam, Judy, River or Kerry develops, they’ll message you more often, and the devs have hinted that there are new conversations and interactions with your Cyberpunk 2077 boyfriend or girlfriend to discover. You can also invite them to your apartment and spend the night at theirs — which you could always do, but now they’ll sometimes wake up next to you in the morning.

#4 You Can Rent New Apartments

In addition to customising your apartment, you can also rent new apartments. There are four new apartments scattered around Night City’s different districts, each with their own look and feel. The apartment in Japantown, for instance, is fit for the rich and famous, while the digs in Corpo Plaza have a more minimalist aesthetic. You can rent multiple apartments at the same time, and they’re all customisable and come with a mirror for you to change your appearance.

#5 There’s More to Do in Your Apartment

No matter which apartment V rents, you can now do things to make it feel like a home. Taking a shower applies the “Refreshed” status to give your health a buff in combat. Going to sleep regenerates your health and applies the “Rested” status to give you an XP boost. Brewing coffee makes you “Energised” which increases your max stamina and stamina regen. You can also burn incense, play guitar and records and make yourself drinks, and the devs have promised a number of other small interactions that help you roleplay as V.

#6 You Can Slow Walk

You can finally toggle a slower walking speed, which is a game-changer for those moments you want to take a leisurely stroll around Night City to appreciate the sights. Cyberpunk 2077 is finally playable!
