After being announced in 2019, Overwatch 2 is finally getting ready for people to play it. The first Overwatch 2 beta begins on April 27 — it’s a closed beta, which means you need an invitation to play, but there are a few ways to get an invite.

How Do You Sign Up For the Overwatch 2 Beta?

Sign ups for the beta are open here. Logging in with your account will add you to the list of players who’ll be invited to participate in the Overwatch 2 beta. There’s a catch, though: only some of the players who sign up will actually get into this beta. If you’re one of them, you’ll get a welcome email from the Overwatch team with instructions on how to gain access.

How Do You Get Into the Overwatch 2 Beta Through Twitch?

The other way to get an invite to the Overwatch 2 beta is to watch Twitch streams. That’s right, you can secure one of the coveted invitations just by watching your favourite creators. Specifically, you’ll need to tune into select streams during specified time frames and watch for at least four hours — which can be spent on one channel or accumulated by watching numerous creators. Everyone who does so will receive a Twitch drop with an invitation.

First though, you’ll need to have your account linked to your Twitch account. Linking your accounts is quick and easy: just log into Twitch and navigate to the Settings menu, then the Connections tab. The “Blizzard” option should be at the top of the list.

There are hundreds of participating streamers, like Pokimane, AnneMunition and LuluLuvely. You can check out the full list here.

In Australia, the Overwatch 2 Twitch drops start on April 28 at 3am and end at 11am, giving you an eight hour window to receive an invite.

What’s Included in the Overwatch 2 Beta?

The April 27 beta will focus on the game’s new 5v5 Quick Play mode. Players will also get to try out one of the new heroes, Sojourn, as well as four new maps and an all-new game type called Push Mode, where teams battle to take control of a robot that begins in the centre of the map, then push it toward the enemy base.

The Overwatch 2 beta starts on April 27 and runs until May 18. There’s still no release date for Overwatch 2, but hopefully, the beta reveals a game that’s close to being finished.
