Zelda” fans have already had a blast with “Tears of the Kingdom” this year, but guess what? Nintendo just threw a curveball our way — they’re cooking up a live-action “Legend of Zelda” movie! Hold onto your rupees, because we’re about to journey to Hyrule like never before, and it’s going to be epic.

This live-action film adaptation, backed by Nintendo and Sony Pictures Entertainment, promises to be a milestone in the gaming-to-film transition.

Leading the charge is Shigeru Miyamoto, the visionary mind behind the original “Zelda” video game, and Avi Arad, a renowned producer with a knack for translating beloved franchises to the silver screen.

“‘The Legend of Zelda’ has been a passion project for years,” Miyamoto expressed on X, formerly known as Twitter. “Together with Avi Arad-san, we are dedicated to crafting a cinematic experience that will delight fans and newcomers alike.”

Avi Arad has produced films like “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse”, which won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, along with dozens of Marvel movies.

Nintendo’s decision to delve into live-action films is a strategic move, building on the success of their recent ‘Super Mario Bros’ film, which grossed over $1 billion worldwide.

The “Zelda” series has an impressive legacy, with over 130 million copies sold worldwide. Recent releases like “The Breath of the Wild” and “Tears of the Kingdom” have been lauded as some of the greatest video games ever made, further solidifying the franchise’s enduring appeal.
