How to Decorate With Your Monstera aka "Swiss Cheese" Plant
As soon as I ordered my first real houseplants — two monstera deliciosa plants named Mandrake and Gilly, I became obsessed with my new role as plant mum to this gorgeous tropical species. Two things that kept me Googling late into the night: how to keep them alive and how to style them in my small city apartment. After making sure I had the care basics down (thankfully, it's described as "hearty" and "low maintenance"), it was time for the fun part: deciding where they should go and what to put them in. I scoured Instagram for some inspiration, and here are some of my favourite ideas for decorating with monstera aka "Swiss cheese" plants.
Please note that while your monstera (and most plants, really) need water to grow, they hate to sit in water, as it rots their roots. To avoid the dreaded root rot but still keep your house stylish, double pot it. So leave the plant in the original nursery pot, then place that in whatever decorative pot or basket you decide to use. You'll take the plant out to water it.
