10 La Niña-Approved Outfits to Wear on Christmas Day This Year

Usually, Christmas Day in Australia is all about blue skies and scorching sun rays, the perfect weather for lazy morning swims followed by long (outdoor) Christmas lunches. This year, though, the chances of us getting that are — and we hate to sound like a downer here — slim to none.

Yep, thanks to La Niña, the weather pattern we’re currently experiencing, we’re set to see an increased chance of rainfall and cooler-than-average daytime temperatures, which means there’s a good chance that’ll be the case on Christmas Day.

Will our Christmas Day be wet and chilly, like so many other days this summer? Or will we be gifted *fingers crossed* with a fluke of sunny weather? And, whatever the weather, what should be wearing for the occasion? We answer all your burning questions here.

Christmas Day Weather 2022

Before we get into the predictions, it’s worth noting that the most reliable Christmas Day weather forecast will drop on December 18. We’re just are too far off the following assertions to be airtight. And thus, they’re subject to change.

Nevertheless, the Bureau of Meteorology took a crack at predicting the Christmas weather. They believe the La Niña weather system will probably make Queensland, NSW, the ACT, Victoria, and Tasmania damper than usual this Chrissie season.

Furthermore, La Niña may provide southern Queensland, most of NSW, the ACT, Victoria, and South Australia with some cooler-than-average daytime temperatures.

This silly season, some places are more likely to get rained on than others. For instance, there are multiple areas that are a coin flip between having wet or uneventful Christmas day weather.

Adelaide, Perth are looking close to 50/50 in terms of average rainfall, and so is Darwin. However, it’s believed Perth and Darwin are less likely to score cooler days than states like NSW or South Australia.

There are currently only two places that are expected to have a drier than normal Christmas day weather forecast. Northern and central Western Australia are predicted to have drier conditions than usual.
