Tinder’s ‘Swipe Night’ Is Back and This Time, It’s A Game Of Murder, Mystery and (Hopefully) Love

Marvel Enterprises

I’ve only just arrived back on Tinder (curiosity got the better of me), and so much has changed.

They’ve brought in a Face to Face option, which allows you to video chat with whatever babe you’re messaging, as well as a speed-dating game called Hot Takes, which lets you get to know someone with similar interests to yours in only a few minutes.

And now, following its wildly successful first chapter last year, Tinder has ordered a new instalment of the first-person, interactive experience, Swipe Night.

Last year, 20 million members came together for a shared storyline with Swipe Night and there was an overall 26% increase in matches.

Most of Tinder’s members fall in the Gen Z category (18-25), so it’s really great to see the online dating platform try new and creative ways for daters to communicate with potential lovers.

We all love a bit of a juicy apocalyptic murder to get the juices flowing (all I’m thinking about is Jessica Alba in Fantastic Four), am I right?

What Is Swipe Night?

Tinder launched Swipe Night in late September of 2019, before social distancing was the status quo, and released a new episode every Sunday of October. The experience, the first of its kind in the dating category, paved the way for more social experiences on Tinder. Tinder’s Swipe Night was awarded the Entertainment Grand Prix at Cannes 2021.

So, what exactly is it? Swipe Night is an interactive, first-person apocalyptic adventure, where at key points, Tinder players have to decide what happens to them next. Their choices dictate more than just the story; they actually impact who they match with and what they will chat about once the epic journey ends.

Why Is This New Swipe Night Different?

The new instalment will feature new characters and an all-new storyline — a Gen Z whodunit. Over course of three weeks in November, members will have to choose who they think committed the crime.

Each member will have their own unique experience based on the choices they make and, depending upon those choices, see different outcomes and plot twists. At the end of each episode, members will be paired with another Swipe Night participant through “Fast Chat” where they’ll be able to talk about the story, analyse different clues and help solve the mystery together.

“Fast Chat”, which launched in June and powers the Hot Takes speed-dating experience, allows people to chat with each other over certain topics within Tinder before matching.

When Does Swipe Night Launch In 2021?

We don’t have an exact date, but we do know that the game will be up and running in November. So, keep your eyes peeled around the end of October 2021.
