The country may be in the middle of the marriage equality survey, but it's about to get its first LGBTIQ+ women's wedding magazine. Dancing With Her is a magazine and online space that celebrates women in love and promotes vendors in Australia and the US who support marriage equality.
The site and magazine (the first edition of which will be sent to subscribers on Oct. 23), came to fruition when Gold Coast couple Tara and Arlia got engaged last year. As Tara told Pedestrian, they felt that most of the wedding magazines were heavily skewed to hetero couples. They also found vendors to be uneducated: "We would see a post on social media that identified that the vendor was supportive of marriage equality, but when the time came to enquire, we would find forms that stated bride and groom."
The marriages of same-sex couples in Australia might not be legal just yet (we're holding out for Nov. 15), but Tara says the site wants to also celebrate women who are choosing to marry regardless of the law.
You can pre-order your copy of the print magazine here for $19.95.
