Each Bridesmaid in This Cool Boho Wedding Wore a White Gown — and It Worked Beautifully
Eclectic, cool, boho-chic, and non-traditional are just a few ways to capture Dhiran and Colleen's wedding day. When we asked the bride about her wedding-style inspiration, she told us that Poppy Delevingne's wedding was the greatest source: Colleen wowed her guests with a stunningly unique gown and, just like Cara did, each of her bridesmaids selected a white dress that best fit their personality.
When it came to deciding on their wedding venue, the two landed on the Basilica (formerly a 19th-century factory) in Hudson, New York. "After seeing the Basilica, it just felt like the place for us — the sleepy yet fun and interesting town, the exposed brick, the factory feel . . . even the bathrooms were just cool!" Colleen told POPSUGAR. "The whole vibe of the venue was just very us!"
The beautiful couple wanted their Summer nuptials to feel airy and bright, which was made possible by their gorgeous indoor-outdoor reception. They used the space over the entire weekend from their welcome dinner on Friday, which featured a pizza food truck and live music, and then again during cocktail hour on Saturday and farewell bagels on Sunday.
Dhiran and Colleen worked with many of their friends to make their wedding fun and personal to them. One of the bride's closest friends created all the paper goods while another took care of the florals, which were a mix of wildflowers and unexpected arrangements. The best man created a love wall in hot pink for their photo booth and lent them a giant neon heart from his Henri Bendel installation. Since the venue itself was already so special, the couple decided to keep the decor and details as simple as possible.
Dhiran even created a surprise video for Colleen, which he played on a projector after the ceremony. He had photographed a 365-day countdown to the wedding with sticky notes, which brought her to tears. But among all their wedding-day highlights, Colleen and Dhiran shared that their guests were what really made it memorable. The bride's huge family from Cleveland, Ohio, were brought together with the groom's family from London and their friends from all stages of life.
"We witnessed all different people who didn't know each other before becoming fast friends and it was awesome," Colleen said. "Many of our best friends contributed to the special day from singing to officiating, coming up with our signature cocktails, creating the paper goods, doing the reception flowers, and creating our love wall photo booth, so that all just made us feel beyond loved."
