When you travel with kids, it can be easy to get caught up in all the potential things that could go wrong. After all, these adorable tiny humans have a particular set of needs, and travelling to far and exotic places doesn't always support that. But instead of letting fear hold you back, sometimes you just have to go all in and take a chance. Want proof? Look no further than The Bucket List Family.
Garrett and Jessica Gee sold all their belongings a few years ago to go on an around-the-world adventure with their two kids, Dorothy and Manilla, and they're still on the road. The couple recently welcomed son Calihan, or "Cali" for short, and proved on a recent trip to Costa Rica that travelling with kids — and breastfeeding a little baby — is totally doable! During their trip, all five members of the family went on a 4-wheeler adventure through the jungle. "This could be a mistake, not because someone was going to get hurt (we were going to be very careful), but it was more like we're going to drive off into the jungle and one kid is going to have, like, a meltdown or whatever," Garrett said in the video they posted on their YouTube channel. "That's what it's like, travelling with kids. You go for it and you hope for the best, and you prepare for the worst."
When they pulled over to the side of the road for snacks, Jessica breastfed baby Cali right there on her 4-wheeler in the middle of the Costa Rican jungle, proving that 1) There should be no shame in feeding your baby wherever and whenever they need it, and 2) Travelling with kids, including a newborn, doesn't have to be so scary. If you've followed the family's adventures over the years, you know that they don't let the fear of things going wrong stop them from seeing and experiencing the world. And the wonderful thing about nursing is that it can be done anywhere. Watch the video above to see the incredibly powerful reminder that there's no shame in breastfeeding (and living the life you want with your kids).
