When it comes to kids and Disney movies, resistance might be futile. Case in point: Keira Knightley, who welcomed her second daughter last year, had previously stated that she was trying to keep her 4-year-old daughter, Edie, away from certain Disney movies that might impart outdated messages. In a recent interview with Porter, however, Keira shared a very relatable update: “She’s watched them all now.”

When she had originally explained her parenting rule on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2018, Keira said, “Cinderella – banned – because she waits around for a rich guy to rescue her. Rescue yourself, obviously.” As for The Little Mermaid, which she admittedly loves, Keira said at the time, “The songs are great, but do not give your voice up for a man, hello! I love The Little Mermaid so that one’s a little tricky, but I’m keeping to it.”

Though she’s since given in, not all was lost: “When we watched Sleeping Beauty, she said, ‘It’s not OK that man kissed her without her permission!’ I can’t tell you how pleased I was.” Keira added, “If I don’t do anything else, I’ve managed to drum that in!”
