Melbourne is synonymous with graffiti, and the city has really championed its street art culture. Now the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel has redesigned its loft room so that you can really live and breathe Melbourne art on your stay. Teaming up with local artist 90 Degrees, the room is decorated with original murals, tagged furniture, graffitied bed linen and milk-crate night stands, and stocks a collection of street-art themed books and DVDs.
"Our curated room series has been a fantastic success. It captivates our guests with a seasonal experience that also supports a local Australian brand. We are excited to continue the momentum this winter with 90 Degrees," said Garry Lucas, general manager of the hotel. "90 Degrees has brought the celebrated Melbourne laneway scene into the room. Our guests are able to relish in this vibrant side of Melbourne's culture, from morning to night."
The room has an iconic view over Flinders Street station and is only a short walk from some of the city's best street art laneways, like Hosier, Degraves and AC/DC. It's available to book until August 13, from $259 per night — which includes a "specially designed eatable graffiti snack". Yum.
