Natalie Isaacs 1 Million Women Interview

"Women Are the Glorious and Powerful Agents of Change" - Natalie Isaacs, Founder of 1 Million Women

In honour of International Women's Day, we asked friends of the POPSUGAR Australia family to share what International Women's Day means to them. Read all our stories, celebrating F*cking Awesome Females and continue to spread our message of empowerment and equality not just on March 8, but every day.

Creating 1 Million Women has been a 10-year journey that opened my eyes to things I never saw before. It has taught me so much about empowerment and confidence and what can drive us to profoundly change the way that we live. I had no idea on how to build a movement when I started but I always knew it was going to be with women.

Women are change makers. Women make 70-to-85 percent of the consumer decisions that affect the households carbon footprint. Women are powerful consumers and can use that power in the marketplace. It's estimated that women now control $29.6 trillion of the world's wealth and that's trending up. So just imagine using that power for the good of the planet. Women and children in developing countries are the most vulnerable to climate change and are on the front line. As a woman living in one of the world's most affluent societies, shouldn't I at the very least do all I can to live with the least impact on the planet? After all, we all share this planet and breathe the same air.

1MW has come along way. We are now a movement of 880,000 women. Through living and breathing the 1 Million Women message, there are three things I absolutely know to be true. Firstly, women are the glorious and powerful agents of change, secondly, sweeping lifestyle change is a hard topic and lastly, to profoundly change the way we live we need to fall madly and deeply in love with our earth. We have to truly understand what we do matters and that how we live shapes the world. Once we understand this, changing the way we live becomes a much easier proposition. I know this because that's exactly what happened to me.

Never ever underestimate the power you have as one woman, one individual to shape the world. When enough of us do the same thing it does change the system.
