Snow has been falling at sea level in Tasmania since Monday, and it's pretty awesome. While you might assume that, being our most southern state, it always snows during Winter, you'd be wrong — it hasn't snowed like this since 1986! Plus, Tassie is pretty flat, even its mountains aren't huge — there's a reason Winter sports lovers flock to the likes of Thredbo and Falls Creek rather than Ben Lomond to get their ski on.
It's snowing in parts of the state it very rarely does, and in the places they do get snow, there are huge amounts. Tasmanians are waking up to see their backyards like they've never seen them before. Kids are hoping to nab an elusive school "snow day." Dogs, horses and cows are confused, and rarest of all, there's snow on the beaches! Thanks to social media, images of all these things are filling our feed and we love it. Here are some of our favourite snaps of Tassie's #winterwonderland.
