Gibb River Road
A land blessed with an abundance of bush, coastal and rugged outback terrain, Australia is an ideal destination for off-road driving. Not just a way to satiate an adventurer's appetite, off-road drives are also one of the best ways to experience the more remote parts of the country in all its untouched glory. As much as heading further and further away from civilisation may be, er, an adjustment, for some, trust me, if a recent off-road experience can convert this city girl into a fan, there is (more than enough) hope for everyone else yet.
My first off-road experience was a trip down to Victoria's Mornington Peninsula with Jeep, taking some of their latest four-wheel drives for a spin through the windy, dirt roads around and off the coast. I'd expected a hard-to-complete, tricky drive and general discomfort, but instead, found relaxation, a new appreciation, and the kind of thrill that can only come with being able to pump the gas, hard, knowing full well that nothing could touch me within the four walls of my trusty four-wheeler.
So for your next adventure, why not take the road less travelled and opt for some of the best off-road trails Australia has to offer? Grab a 4WD, your friends, and go!
