Kendall Jenner's Instagram Strategy Is Interesting

A post shared by Kendall (@kendalljenner) on

Kendall Jenner has over 50 million followers on Instagram, and this number grows every day. You'd think she uses the social media platform like every other 20 year old, but this isn't possible when you have so many followers — you've seen that video of what happens to your phone when you run a super popular account and keep your notifications on, right? It's crazy! The phone can hardly deal.

So what's Instagram like when you routinely get about a million likes per photo, or hold the record for the most-liked photo in history (so far)? Kendall's makeup artist, Victor Henao, who works with her on Estée Lauder campaigns and gets her ready for events, told us that checking social media is one of Kendall's favourite thing to do when she's getting made up. "We go through Snapchat a lot together, and of course, Instagram. She doesn't always follow everyone she searches, so she makes us like something on behalf of her, because she knows her power on Instagram and is very careful about how she uses that power. You don't want people to know she's looking at your Instagram when there's a meme about her or something," he revealed when we caught up with him during his Australian tour this month.

"For her count, they only get to see the people they follow. They only get to see if someone comments, tags them or writes something on them if she follows them, so she doesn't get to see everything on Instagram," he continued. And even Victor has experienced the effects of being connected to someone with such a powerful social media presence, telling us, "She tagged me in a shot once, and I had to turn off all of my notifications. I only have notifications for when someone writes on one of my pictures or tags me in something; other than that, I have no notifications. But she tagged me in something and it was blasting. I had to turn off all of my notifications for five days because it just kept coming and coming."
