Samsung Just Dropped Its New Smartwatch in 2 Very Different Designs
After hitting us with two new smartphones last month, this morning Samsung announced its latest offering to the world of wearables — the Gear S2. The smartwatch is light and compact: 11.4 mm thin with a 3 cm circular screen, and 360 x 360 screen resolution (302ppi). Nice!
We are yet to know how much the Gear S2 will cost, we can confirm it is coming to Australia, with Samsung saying this:
"We are very excited to confirm that the Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch will arrive in Australia soon. The Gear S2 will provide our customers with a truly amazing smartwatch experience. We look forward to providing more details regarding local pricing and availability closer to the Australian launch."
Some of the features you can look forward to? Built-in e-SIM with voice capability, new fitness functions including an internal heart rate monitor, two-to-three day battery life, NFC technology which enables mobile payments without the need for a wallet (so good) and it's IP68 waterproof.
One of the most exciting things is that the Gear S2 has been introduced in two different looks — the Gear S2 and the Gear S2 classic — designed to appeal to two very different users. The Gear S2 classic is made for someone wanting a smartwatch that looks like a classic analogue watch. It has an elegant black finish with a matching genuine leather band. The Gear S2 is much more modern, minimal and a bit sports luxe. It comes in two colourways: dark grey case with a dark grey band or a silver case with a white band.
