I Reviewed Barni Skin Holiday Glow Serum, and the Radiance Is Real

I was fortunate enough to be tasked with reviewing Australian skincare brand Barni Skin‘s Holiday Glow Serum ($49.99), which dropped late last year. When I opened its blue box and pulled out its glass bottle, the first thing that caught my eye were the dots of white dispersed throughout the liquid. They made me think of the $10 exfoliating wash that I used throughout high school that would strip away my skin’s natural moisture, leaving it raw and dry.

Thankfully, I soon discovered, the white blobs in Holiday Glow did nothing like that. Instead, they instantly dissolved when I rubbed them into my skin, leaving my skin feeling hydrated and looking dewy. In fact, my skin looked positively dewy in the light, and incredibly soft to touch.

At first glance, the formula looks a bit thick and albeit a little sticky. But surprisingly, it was light and quick to absorb. The skincare serums I’ve used in the past have been almost oil-like. So, I definitely wasn’t expecting the honey-like consistency of this formula.

Because I’m still in my routine experimentation era, I followed the recommended directions for three days to see how it would change my skin. During this time, I only used 3-4 drops of the serum after cleansing and before applying SPF first thing in the morning. However, should you want to use it before bed — it’s best before your moisturiser.

My sensitive, combination skin makes it a struggle to find products that don’t cause a breakout or make me feel itchy. I was thankful when my face didn’t go red or start spouting acne after using the Holiday Glow Serum. The difference in my skin’s brightness was also nice to see.
