We can all say it was worth the seven-year wait, as Rihanna took centre stage at halftime of Super Bowl LVII between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles. It was the first time the singer has been on stage since 2016, and boy did she put on a show.

She kicked off her halftime show above the crowd at State Farm Stadium performing on one of many suspended platforms while revisiting some of her most iconic hits including “B***h Better Have My Money”, “Only Girl in the World,” “Work” and “We Found Love.”

She looked the part, wearing an all-red jumpsuit and bustier by Loewe, and a puffer jacket by Alaia, the same designer she was wearing at the Super Bowl pre-match press conference.

Another talking point of the night was the singer’s sporty-chic style hair and makeup. Her makeup artist, Priscilla Ono, opted for a fresh and minimalistic base using Fenty, Pro Filt’r, Soft Matte Foundation ($56) with Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Concealer, ($41) A pop of colour was added with a bold red lip, Icon Velvet Liquid Lipstick in The Mvp, ($45) while her lids were swept with silver sparkly eyeshadow from the limited edition and currently sold out Bomb Posse, Mega Mix + Match Eyeshadow Palette ($60). But the “Diamonds” singer went all out with her hair, rocking a slicked-back braided ponytail — which has been dubbed the Medusa pony — giving off mega bad b***h vibes. The iconic hairstyle was parted down the middle of her face and featured face-framing tendrils on either side of her face.

It was the perfect look to make her debut back on stage as she treated fans to a medley of her biggest hits.

If you’ve been living under a rock for the past few months, the singer made her return to music after six years when she dropped her latest single, “Lift Me Up,” from the “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” soundtrack.

The pop star has been teasing her long-awaited ninth album, temporarily dubbed ‘R9’ by fans and Rihanna herself, for years — but when she plans to release it remains a mystery. But after this iconic performance, the pop star has left us itching for more Rhi-Rhi!
