Nine-time Grammy-winning artist Rihanna took centre stage at halftime of Super Bowl LVII between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles. It was the first time the singer has been on stage in nearly seven years, and boy did she put on a show. 

She kicked off her halftime show above the crowd at State Farm Stadium performing on one of many suspended platforms, looking like the true pop star she is wearing an all-red jumpsuit with oversized jacket. While her several backup dancers wore all-white.

She finished as big as she started, once more hoisted into the air to sing one of her biggest hits, “Diamonds”. And while it was her first live performance since 2016, the pop star has left us itching for more Rhi-Rhi!

If you’ve been living under a rock for the past few months, the singer made her return to music after six years when she dropped her latest single, “Lift Me Up,” from the “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” soundtrack.

The pop star has been teasing her long-awaited ninth album, temporarily dubbed ‘R9’ by fans and Rihanna herself, for years — but when she plans to release it remains a mystery. Fans thought that she might be dropping it following her Super Bowl performance, but Rihanna has set the record straight.

“That’s not true,” she told the Associated Press when asked if the headlining announcement meant that the album would soon follow.

“Super Bowl is one thing. New music is another thing. Do you hear that, fans? The second that I announced this, I said, ‘Oh, my God, they’re going to think my album is coming. I need to get to work’.”

The half-time performance has also sparked rumours that she might be hitting the road on tour again. While we would love that to be true, nothing has been confirmed yet.

The event’s half-time performance is nothing short of incredible, and has seen singers like Beyoncé and Bruno Mars take the stage in previous years. Most recently Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar fronted the show last year for an all-star hip-hop line up.
