You Asked, We Answered: The Mystery Behind MAFS Groom Adam’s Job

The “Married At First Sight” drama keeps on coming. We’re just being introduced to our new contestants as they walk down the aisle with a complete stranger, and while you might think it would be smooth sailing at the start, the early episodes have been riddled with problems.

The latest debacle surrounds newlywed couple Janelle and Adam. We watched the beauty influencer exchange vows with Adam and probe him about his career. Adam explained that he is a “digital entrepreneur” who is looking to launch a podcast in the future. But even after he explained it we, like Janelle, are still not quite sure exactly what he does. We wanted to get to the bottom of it, and here’s what we found.

What does MAFS’ Adam Do for Work?

Adam was vague about his job when speaking with Janelle, saying that he started a competition business with a friend when he was living in the UK.

We tracked this down to a British-based business called Meta Competitions but, curiously, there aren’t any active raffles on the website at the time of writing.

Past auctions include a Samsung Smart TV for £1.99 ($3.45 AUD) — for which only 84 out of 600 tickets were purchased — and a similarly cheap Dyson Airwrap — of which only 41 out of 550 tickets were sold.

Digging further, I also discovered that this isn’t not Adam’s first (or second) time appearing on reality TV.

The 35-year-old tried to find love on British reality show “Dinner Date” in February 2017. He also put himself in the limelight the following summer on “Coach Trip”.

While it doesn’t seem like his so-called “online business” is up and running, it’s still causing problems in his marriage with Janelle.

Janelle, who came into the experiment adamant she doesn’t want a man who can’t take care of himself, expressed her concern over Adam’s mysterious career.

“There’s definitely a worry that he’s 35 and he doesn’t really have a career at the moment,” Janelle told cameras.

It’s a question the beauty influencer just couldn’t let go of. On the morning of their honeymoon, we watched Janelle probe her new ‘husband’ once more, questioning if he’s “able to survive at the moment”.

That left a sour taste in Adam’s mouth, who felt like that’s all she cares about.

“It just seems like she cares about how much money I make and whether I can support myself and it’s like, ‘don’t make me feel like you’ve got nothing when you don’t know me’,” Adam admitted to producers.

“It’s a turnoff and it’s definitely going to make it hard for me to get close to her or even open up to her.”

Several viewers expressed their confusion on Twitter, meaning Janelle wasn’t the only one unsure about his career.

“Married At First Sight” airs at 7.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now. Maybe Adam will reveal more about his career in an upcoming episode, but forgive us if we don’t hold our breath.
