After a 14-year break, “Australian Idol” is back and better than ever on Channel 7. We’ve missed the neon blue lights and singing (or, screaming) along to the contestants’ chosen tunes. As always, the range of contestants stretches far from melodic songbirds to time-to-mute-the-TV.

Making his return to the “Idol” judges’ desk is none other than Aussie sass king Kyle Sandilands, and you can expect him to bring his quality sarcasm to the show. Joining him on the panel are Meghan Trainor, Amy Shark, and Harry Connick Jr, and we can’t wait to see if sparks fly or the vibes fizzle out between the four of them.

Sandilands has a no-holds-barred approach to criticism and lasers in on whether or not the performer has what it takes to be a commercial success in the music industry. Some may not agree with his direct style, but the man knows what’s necessary to drive and build success in the Australian market. This is definitely not his first rodeo, having also previously sat on the panel for X-Factor Australia and Australia’s Got Talent.

He’s also a co-host on the long-running and sometimes-problematic “Kyle and Jackie O Show” on KIIS 106.5, where he keeps audiences entertained with his quick wit and humour alongside Jacqueline Last AKA Jackie O.

In press materials, when asked about how to achieve longevity in the music industry, Sandilands emphasised the importance of managing your personal brand and that it’s imperative to make intelligent choices when it comes to your music. He points out that securing a record deal is just the beginning, as the real challenge is staying on top.

Not only is Kyle successful in his radio and television pursuits but he heads up his own production and investment company; King Kyle. The company boasts a diverse portfolio of interests that include all things media, retail and technology.

Don’t miss Kyle and the rest of the judges on Australian Idol, airing on Channel 7 and 7plus.
