John Krasinski‘s new movie IF is special for a lot reasons. It’s family-friendly fun (unlike A Quiet Place, which is fun in a very different kind of way), it’s heartfelt, and it’s charming. It also marks the third collaboration between Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Fiona Shaw, and as huge fans of Fleabag and Killing Eve, we love to see it!
IF follows Bea (Cailey Fleming), a young girl who realises she can see everyone’s childhood imaginary friends — the ones who were abandoned as their real-life friends grew up. The cast of the film is stacked (hello, Ryan Reynolds!), and Fiona and Phoebe aren’t even the only iconic reunion in the film. IF also sees John Krasinski re-team with his Office co-star Steve Carrell.
In the film, Fiona plays Bea’s grandmother, and Phoebe voices an IF named Blossom. In a new interview with The Latch, Fiona gushed about her collaborations with Phoebe, and revealed which one is her favourite.

Fiona Shaw “Can’t Get Enough” of Working With Phoebe Waller-Bridge
“I always love any chance to be with Phoebe!” Fiona told The Latch over Zoom. “And she is a delightful person, both in life and in art.”
After working together on Killing Eve and Fleabag, IF marks Fiona’s third time working alongside her friend, but hopefully, it’s not the last. According to her, she “can’t get enough!” and let’s be real, neither can we!
“She’s delightful,” Fiona gushed. “It was very clever of John to kind of put us both together again, and it’s great fun. She and I watched the film together last week.”
But out of their collabs, it’s Fleabag Series 2 that holds a special place in Fiona’s heart.
“That first scene, the first 10 minutes of Fleabag 2 I think, is one of the best things I’ve seen on television, ever,” Fiona said. “But of course, I’m very grateful to her for Killing Eve, where she wrote us into a kind of fourth dimension, really. And people [were] so engaged with those characters that I’m forever grateful to Phoebe.”
“I feel, in a way, that she is my fairy godmother!” she laughed.
