Jonah Hill has turned into the most gorgeous surfer babe and body positivity advocate in the past few months and safe to say, we love him more than ever.
These days, Hill’s Instagram is all beach sunsets, corduroy bucket hats, funky sunglasses, bleached blonde hair, catching waves, holiday party shirts and, most recently… his confirmed girlfriend, Sarah Brady.
But before we dish into that latest goss, we’re going to take a moment to truly appreciate Jonah for the gift that he is.
Earlier this year, Jonah addressed his struggles with body image that were exacerbated “by years of public mockery” about his body “by press and interviewers”. He finally clapped back at a shirtless photo of himself that found its way onto Daily Mail.
Hill shared the Daily Mail photo and headline to his Instagram with the caption: “I don’t think I ever took my shirt off in a pool until I was in my mid 30’s even in front of family and friends. Probably would have happened sooner if my childhood insecurities weren’t exacerbated by years of public mockery about my body by press and interviewers.”
“So the idea that the media tries to play me by stalking me while surfing and printing photos like this and it can’t phase me anymore is dope. I’m 37 and finally love and accept myself. This isn’t a ‘good for me’ post. And it’s definitely not a ‘feel bad for me post’.
“It’s for the kids who don’t take their shirt off at the pool. Have fun. You’re wonderful and awesome and perfect. All my love.”
We love that Jonah opened up about this. It’s hard to imagine the impacts of being typecast as a character in the public eye, and for Jonah, he’s been pretty well-known as the sloppy, nerdy, funny kid with a big heart since the beginning of his career.
His success in Hollywood has predominantly come from roles that cast him as this character that we’ve grown to recognise, know and love in hit films and TV shows like Superbad, Knocked Up, Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Maniac.
To separate yourself from a character assigned to you must be extremely tough. Hannah Gadsby discusses this in her monumental Netflix special “Nanette” back in 2018, saying that building a career out of self-deprecating humour takes a toll on your mental health and can do more damage than you realise.
Recently, Jonah took his body positivity to the next level by getting a tattoo reading ‘BODY LOVE’ so the inspiring statement is stamped on his body for good.
It’s pretty amazing to see celebrities like Jonah Hill and Camila Cabello being unapologetic about their natural bodies, and reaching a point where other people’s opinions don’t dictate how they feel about themselves —which, as we all know, is much easier said than done.
In the era of social media, constant communication and transparency, it’s incredibly inspiring to see well-known figures taking authority of their own narrative and speaking their truths.
Now, just as we began to fall in love with Jonah Hill all over again, this time as the Malibu chiller with an unapologetic attitude that exudes constant warmth… it’s not surprising that he now has 1x babe of a girlfriend.
Posting to Instagram, Jonah shared a photo of him and his rumoured-now-confirmed GF Sarah Brady, saying “❤😍😍Grateful for you @sarahhbrady” underneath a snap of them at a restaurant together.
This selfie is so cute. It’s the kind of selfie you send to your parents because you’re happy and sun-kissed and in a relationship with a hot babe. It’s also the kind of photo that would make your parents proud of the person you’ve become and swoon over the fact that they may, one day, have some grandkids.
Jonah and Sarah have been reportedly dating for a few months, with Sarah herself posting some cute pics of the two together in Malibu, referencing Jonah as “her jojo”.
Although we’re a tad jealous and still absolutely have the desire to give Jonah a big smooch (in our dreams), we’re happy for them.
Because if anyone deserves to be happy and in love, it’s our beautiful man, Jonah Hill.
