Christina Batista Is Bringing Her Portuguese Cooking to MasterChef Australia: Fans & Favourites

Network Ten

Christina Batista is a culinary connoisseur, crediting her large Portuguese family for teaching her everything she knows.

Growing up, she would watch her Avó cooking milho. The process lasted an entire day, but, once complete, was finished in a few minutes. The dish, which is served with fried egg or chourico sausage, still makes Batista smile.

Passionate about her rich Portuguese heritage, Christina hopes to spotlight the delicious food from her culture, even travelling to Portugal to enhance her skills.

Previously appearing on Season 5 of MasterChef Australia, the cook made it all the way to Finals Week, ending her time in the kitchen at fifth place. While she’s insanely proud of her achievement, she’s returning to Fans vs Favourites in the hopes to take home the coveted trophy.

After her time on the show, Christina went on to do work experience at the Quay restaurant. She then started her own market stall at farmers’ markets, alongside running a catering business.

In the future, she hopes to host her own cooking show where she shares her love of Portuguese cooking. Ready to do whatever it takes to make her goals a reality, Christina is going to be tough to beat in the MasterChef Kitchen.

She leaves behind her mother Fatima, partner Chris, son Damian and daughter Anabelle.

MasterChef Australia: Fans and Favourites premieres Monday, April 18 on Channel 10 and 10Play.
