Billie McKay Is Sharpening Her Knives For MasterChef Australia: Fans & Favourites

Network Ten

She’s best known as the winner of MasterChef Australia season seven, and now, Billie McKay is back to reclaim her throne on Fans & Favourites.

During her run on season seven, Billie quickly gained a reputation for being cool as a cucumber under pressure, and remained unflappable when faced with the high pressure challenges of the MasterChef kitchen. Having spent years since her win honing her skills even further, we’re sure Billie is going to be tough competition from the get-go.

Growing up on a dairy farm in the picturesque surrounds of New South Wales’ mid-north coast, Billie looks back at her childhood fondly. As one of five siblings, the majority of her time would be spent conducting household chores, including making dinner for the family.

That was when her passion for food first started, and eventually led to a career in the hospitality industry. Before appearing on MasterChef Australia, Billie worked as a restaurant manager, and it was her now-husband Haydn who encouraged her to apply for the show.

Following her win, Billie moved to London to pursue an opportunity at Heston Blumenthal’s famed three-Michelin star restaurant, The Fat Duck. It was there that she expanded on her skills as a chef and found out first-hand how it feels to work in a commercial kitchen.

Upon returning home, Billie chose to pursue her love of cheesemaking on the family dairy farm, alongside her mother Alison. Now, years later, she’s returning to the MasterChef kitchen. Whether she has what it takes to win for a second time, however, has yet to be seen.

Could she do what no person has done before, and win the coveted MasterChef Australia trophy for the second time?

MasterChef Australia: Fans and Favourites premieres Monday, April 18 on Channel 10 and 10Play.
