Karla Takes on “Million Dollar Island”

Sydney-born Karla Pound made a life-changing decision 12 years ago to leave the city behind and immerse herself in the vastness of the outback. Since then, she has become a seasoned adventurer with a passion for the great outdoors, wildlife, bush tucker, Indigenous culture, and hiking. Currently working as an expedition leader in the Northern Territory, Karla takes high-end guests on tours to remote locations, drawing on her extensive experience and survival skills.

The 34-year-old’s impressive career history reflects her unwavering spirit of exploration. She has worked as a zookeeper, crocodile keeper, deckhand, wildlife presenter and ranger. Embracing a nomadic lifestyle, she finds it challenging to maintain long-term relationships, prioritising her independence and career over settling down. Her self-critical nature and constant craving for change contribute to her dynamic character, as she easily grows bored with monotony.

Motivated by her desire to test her survival skills, Karla decided to participate in “Million Dollar Island”. With her experience, she stands out as one of the few contestants adept at catching wildlife for sustenance. Beyond the physical challenges, Karla is eager to forge meaningful friendships and secure a life-changing amount of money.

“Million Dollar Island” airs Monday — Wednesday at 7.30pm. You can watch it on Channel 7 and 7plus.
