We’ll Be Returning to the Arconia For “Only Murders in the Building” Season 3

Go0d new, “Only Murders in the Building” fans! “Only Murders in the Building,” which just started airing its second season on June 28, has already been picked up for a third. The July 11 news of renewal comes as no surprise since season one of the critically-acclaimed Hulu Original was crowned the most-watched comedy series in the history of the streamer. Now, the show stands among the most-nominated TV series at the 2022 Emmys, scoring a whopping 17 nods, including outstanding comedy series.

Only Murders in the Building” is the true crown jewel of our slate,” Craig Erwich, president of Hulu Originals and ABC Entertainment, said in a statement about the renewal. “Its appeal across generations, the intersection of humour and heart, and its truly original approach are a hallmark of and testament to Dan, John, Steve, Marty, and Selena’s work. We are grateful to be able to continue telling the stories of Charles, Oliver, and Mabel to viewers that have consistently shown us they crave more of this story.”

Season two of the Golden Globed-nominated comedy is centred on the baffling – yet intriguing – murder mystery of longtime Arconia Board President Bunny (Jayne Houdyshell). The stakes are at an all-time high as the three true-crime podcast buffs – Charles-Haden Savage (Steve Martin), Oliver Putnam (Martin Short), and Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez) – scramble to clear their names as they’ve become prime suspects in the grisly murder.

We are already biting our nails theorizing how the reveal of Bunny’s murderer might set up the fourth season of the mystery show. If you, too, are racking your brain wondering what calamity is set to befall the unsuspecting residents of the Arconia in season three, setting off another murder mystery, we’ve gathered every detail there is to know about “Only Murders in the Building” season three ahead.

“Only Murders in the Building” Season 3 Plot

Season three plot details are understandably under lock and seal at this point to avoid any potential season two spoilers. The focus of the imminent instalment largely hinges on how season two wraps up. As the trio works on unmasking Bunny’s killer, it remains to be seen if the discovery will carry over into season three or if it’ll be resolved in season two itself while setting up a brand new mystery for season three.

The one thing we can assume based on seasons one and two is that season three of “Only Murders in the Building” will see the trio sinking their teeth into a fresh case of whodunnit.

“Only Murders in the Building” Season 3 Cast

While new cast members joining the series in season three are yet to be unveiled, we can count on the central characters making a comeback in the next season – unless, of course, one of them falls victim to the murder streak occurring at their Upper West Side residential building by the end of season two. At any rate, the crime-solving dynamic trio, which includes Martin, Short, and Gomez, will most likely come together for another season filled with hijinks and mysteries.

Additional Arconia residents and characters might reprise their roles as well, such as Jackie Hoffman as Uma Heller, Michael Cyril Creighton as feline-adoring Howard Morris, Da’Vine Joy Randolph as Detective Williams, Nathan Lane as Teddy Dimas, James Caverly as Theo Dimas, and Adriane Lenox as Roberta.

As for the latest additions to the start-studded season two, including Cara Delevine and Amy Schumer, there’s no confirmation whether they’ll move on to season three. For now, their fate hangs in the balance as we await the season two finale.

“Only Murders in the Building” Season 3 Release Date

Seeing that there’s a gap of less than a year between the release of the first two seasons, we can expect season three to follow suit and come out sometime in 2023.

After getting green-lit in September 2021, season two went into production in December 2021 before finally gracing our screens six months later in June 2022. If season three production sticks to the same shooting and post-production schedule, season three of “Only Murders in the Building” might return as soon as the first half of 2023 – likely with a summer premiere date.

However, it isn’t clear how Gomez’s plans to release her highly-anticipated fourth studio album might factor into season three’s arrival.
