Brooke swiftly emerged as a formidable force in “The Summit“. Her inspiring blend of kindness and strength propelled her to the top in the finale, where she claimed victory alongside Lulu and Isaac.

With the eliminated trekkers recognising her deserving nature, Brooke walked away with $150,000 of the $490,000 prize pool. Overwhelmed with gratitude, she expressed how much this windfall would mean to her children, ushering in a new chapter of their lives.

Chatting with POPSUGAR Australia the morning after the finale, Brooke reflected on her journey, and revealed how she plans to spend the “life-changing” $150,000 prize money.

With the adrenaline still pumping through her veins, Brooke gushed about her exhilarating journey and the thrill of getting to watch it back.

“Apart from [feeling] a little tired, I am over the moon!” she exclaimed, her excitement buzzing over the phone. “It’s so nice to be able to talk now, and to watch it back, to relive it was just unbelievable. I’m on top of the world right now!”

How Brooke Plans to Spend Her Prize Money

Throughout the season, Brooke was well aware of the profound impact the prize money would have on her life and her family’s future. Expressing her gratitude, Brooke shared her plans for the winnings.

“Well, it’s absolutely life-changing. I mean, I would’ve been happy with just the money on my back. To get double that? I’m just over the moon!” she said.

“I’m definitely going to go buy a car, I need a nice car, and I’m going to treat myself to that, and, well, I’m going to put most of it in a term deposit. Once I get my uni degree, that’s going to be a deposit for a house! So, what a kickstart, hey?

“To have this opportunity is huge and I’m not going to blow it all. You’ve gotta appreciate money, and I’m very excited to be able to start my life again. It’s really exciting.”

Brooke Reflects on Her Journey

Recalling the moment she discovered that the eliminated trekkers would determine how much of the prize she received, Brooke detailed the mixture of emotions she experienced. Exhausted from the arduous journey to the summit, she and her fellow finalists were bracing themselves for a potential disappointment.

“We were absolutely GUTTED. You can hear Isaac say ‘It’s gonna be okay, it’s gonna be okay’, but you know, Lulu and I played a very strategic game and had to call a lot of shots, and I mean, anyone would’ve had to if they were in our position. Isaac was lucky, he sort of just found his way at the top. But we knew there were some angry people, and I was really concerned,” she said.

“To be honest, when I was opening that bag, I was like, ‘Just prepare yourself for nothing’ — that’s what I was doing. I had a whole group of people who were pretty upset with me, and yeah, I was preparing for nothing. It was definitely a crazy twist!”

Brooke Wishes Lulu Had Received More Money

Although she initially braced for the worst, Brooke emerged with a third of the prize money, expressing her gratitude for the amount she received. However, she also felt a tinge of disappointment for Lulu, who received $90,000. While it’s still a large sum of money, it was the smallest prize of the three, and Brooke felt Lulu deserved more. She was quick to point out Lulu’s physical strength, leadership qualities, and the unfair disparity between men and women’s earnings in sports that champion boxer Lulu has already faced throughout her career.

“I’m a little bit disappointed that Lulu didn’t get more. She was strong. You know, you heard her story — a woman in sport always gets less money than a man. She was the most strong out of all of us physically. Nobody carried [either of our bags], she was a good team player, she was a great leader, and I just feel that was really unfair on her,” she admitted.

“It would’ve been nice for a three-way split, and I think Lulu deserves more! But again, she was gracious, she was grateful, so look. We’re all very grateful we walked away with money, and what an experience!”
